A woman with a heart big enough to love anyone that walked into her life, has left us for her heavenly home. Vicky Lynn Mumford passed away in her home on October 15, 2022. Walk into her home, you would be fed. Walk into to her life, you would be loved. Her beloved Mamaw Murphy shared her love for cooking and canning with much of the family, but it was Vicky that could do it best. Her husband Robby and she gardened which yielded enough bounty to share, especially her salsa and zucchini bread.
Vicky was born on November 28, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio. The community of Spring Valley, OH became her home when she and her family relocated from Florida in 1996. She loved the small-town atmosphere and had many friends she considered family in the community. It was here she fulfilled a dream of owning a small gift shop called Simply Vicky's.
Vicky was also a devoted employee for many companies, businesses and organizations over the years. There was no job too hard, too small, or too big that she would not tackle, and tackle well. Her most recent job, Spring Valley Senior Center Director, was one of the most rewarding. Her big heart was shared with the seniors in this community as she actively pursued grant funds, private donations and programs that would encourage them to enjoy this season of their lives.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her children her constant joy. She is survived by her husband, Robby; three daughters, Sunshine (Cris), Andrea (Josh) and Morgan; stepfather, Larry W. Fields (Alice); 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Duke (Joy) and Guy (Anne), Stephany (Rick); a wonderful sister in law, Debby (Jim) Meeker; loving aunt, Betsy (Barry) Russello; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth E Griffith and mother, Marjorie Fields.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 1 W. Walnut Street, Spring Valley, with Pastor Dar Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at New Burlington Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship will be held immediately following burial at Ancils Place on Roxanna Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newcomer Funeral Home to help the family with medical and funeral expenses or directly to Ohio Hospice of Dayton in honor of Vicky.
