Veronica L. Long

Veronica "Vicki" Long, 61, passed away in Kettering, Ohio on April 7, 2019.

She is survived by her son Joshua and his wife Kristina Long, son Jason and his wife Jennifer
Long, daughter Laura Long, sister Toni and her husband Rance Creamer, sister Becky and her
husband Dave Collins, and Gerry Debartolo. She was loved as Nani by her grandchildern, which
she called her "grands", Jadden, Gavin, Anthony, Landon, Allison, Matthew, & Kalyn. She was
also loved as Aunt Vicki by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Long, mother Iona Francis Brown, sister
Carolyn "Sue" Johnson, brothers Butch and Curt Debartolo, and nephew Billy Johnson.

Vicki was born on September 28, 1957 in Greenfield, Ohio. She was a 1976 graduate of Xenia
High School. She married Kenny, the love of her life in 1977. They raised their twin sons and
daughter in Xenia, which they called home together for over 40 years.

As a retail store manager, Vicki served in many management and human resources roles in the
Dayton and Cincinnati areas. Including Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, and ending her career as
a Store Manager of the Beavercreek Barnes & Noble. She was known to be a firm but
compassionate leader.

Vicki also had a servant's heart and enjoyed volunteering in her community. Over her decades of
service, she volunteered for many organizations including Easterseals, the Children's Miracle
Network, the Women's Recovery Center, & the Cox Elementary PTO.

In her free time Vicki enjoyed reading, traveling, camping and relaxing by her pool. She loved to
spend time with her family and making sure they were always well fed and enjoyed snacks from
her kitchen's snack drawer.

She will be remembered as having a big heart, sage advice, and always willing to help her family
and friends. She had a standing rule that everyone was welcomed to dinner at her house, which
normally consisted of pasta and red sauce! She loved the smell of lilacs and the beauty of
sunshine.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek,
Ohio on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 4-6:00 pm.

The family would like to share some advice from Vicki, which she would share often thru her
lengthy illness:

"I can't control the world. But I can choose my reactions and responses. I can look at life in a
more positive way, so today I'm choosing to be happy." ~ Vicki Long
