Veronica Louise Collins
October 1991 - February 2023
Pure light and love.
Veronica, the beloved daughter of Carol August and Dennis Collins, sister of Troy Collins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Veronica was engaged to Kavin Shah; they had a deep mutual bond and built a beautiful life together over nine years. They shared a warm, welcoming home with their pets Dobbie, Hudson, and Biscuit.
She is survived by family including her mother Carol August, brother Troy Collins, father Dennis Collins (Marcie), paternal grandmother Ann Collins, maternal aunts and uncles Mike August (Angie), Chris August (Mary), Charlie August, and Ann Jenks (Dan). Paternal aunts and uncles Debra Ann Burton, Debbie Louise (Dwayne) Setty, and Paul Allen (Kelly) Collins. Veronica was a part of the Shah family and will be missed by Ketan and Kalpana Shah, Trishna Keiser (Gus), as well as their daughters Asha and Mili. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Alfred and Mary Louise August, as well as paternal grandfather Franklin Collins. She will be missed by her cousins and other family members as well as dear friends too numerous to mention. Veronica valued her many friendships and was accepting of all.
A graduate of Chaminade Julienne High School and the University of Dayton, Veronica was an accomplished graphic designer, photographer and artist. She had many passions and interests. She enjoyed exposing friends and family to anything new and unique. A talented cook, she delighted in creating meals and sharing dining experiences with others. Her sense of fun and adventure was reflected in her holiday spirit, ranging from fantastic Halloween costumes to thoughtful, generous holiday gifts. Her love of music included a strong fandom of BTS, an enthusiasm she couldn't help but share with everyone around her.
She had a true fascination with the game of hockey. She had at least three favorite hockey teams and traveled to a number of hockey arenas. She and Kavin could also be found cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals every Sunday. Together, they co-founded a sports memorabilia business, RinkRat Collectibles with a storefront in the Belmont neighborhood and an online presence designed by Veronica. She was a knowledgeable barista, most recently working at Press Coffee Bar. Her numerous, colorful tattoos captured and memorialized important connections, stories, and life moments.
Known for often rocking sunshine yellow hair and a sense of style unlike any other, she reminded everyone how important it was to embrace being yourself. Veronica had well-defined taste as well as a maturity and wisdom beyond her years. She made every day and every event special and believed that details and creativity mattered. She was immeasurably smart, funny, and loving. She takes with her a piece of our hearts.
She will be laid to rest at a private ceremony at the Saint Kateri Preserve, part of Calvary Cemetery. Her love and friendship will be honored with a Life Celebration to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center or the animal charity of your choice.
