Vernon Carroll Hogden

HOGDEN, Vernon C., age 86, of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024. He was born December 10, 1937 in Palacios, TX.

He graduated from Rice University in 1959 with a degrees in English and Math, and held a Master's degree from University of Southern California in Military Logistics. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960 and in 1961 he was commissioned. He married Evelyn McGowan in 1962. Vernon proudly served in the Air Force for 22 years. He was a gifted pianist and church organist. He was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Dayton.

Vernon and Evelyn had three children: David (Sandra) Hogden, Laura (Vincent) Schmidt, and the late Susan Phelps; 7 grandchildren, Pascal, Tiffany, Christina, Stephen, Patrick, Clara, and Emily; 4 great-grandchildren, Adrian, Carter, Maya, Jeremiah.

He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, parents, Francis and Pauline Hogden of Sweeney, TX and daughter Susan.

Public visitation will be held at St Mark's Episcopal Church (456 Woodman Dr, Dayton, OH 45431) on Saturday April 6th at 11:00 am with memorial service to follow at 12:00 pm
