Vernon Eugene Elleman, age 72 of Xenia, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born February 7, 1944 in Monroe, North Carolina, the son of the late Jack and Jessie Elleman. Vernon is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jo Elleman; children, Brian, Layla, Benjamin, and Mariel Elleman; siblings, Bette J. Elleman (Bill Roth), Eddie J. (Lori Roberts) Elleman; granddaughter, A'Dara Johnson; beloved canine companion, "Niki", as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Vern was a highly decorated combat hero having received two Purple Hearts while serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was also an art director, photographer, and a talented hair designer. Vern won many awards for his photography and in various hair competitions. Family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:30pm on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where a funeral service will follow at 12:30pm. Burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors.
