POWELL, Vernol "Burr"
Age 85, of Trotwood, went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2015. He was born on January 5, 1930 in Berea, KY to the late, John and Liddy Powell (Williams).
Burr served during the Korean War and was a proud veteran of The United States Army. He retired in 1991 from General Motors after 34 years of service.
He preceded in death his loving wife of 60 years, Bessie Powell and 10 siblings all from Kentucky.
He is survived by his sister, Marie Simpson; three sons, Gary Powell of Trotwood, Jerry (Kim) Powell of Huber Heights, and Terry (Diana) Powell of Kettering; grandchildren, Gary Powell Jr., Asia (Jason) DesRuisseau, Angel (Chris) Hoskins, Timothy Smith, Kristy Powell, and Breanna Powell; and great-grandchildren, Jason, Brooke, Nevaeh, Tyger, Timara, and Kristina (Little buddy); and niece, Barbara (Frank) Herzog, all from the Dayton area. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews from the Dayton area.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - North, 4104 Needmore Rd. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
