Vernia A. Sanford

Vernia Sanford passed away on June 13, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old.
Vernia A. Sanford was born on October 7, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, and was preceded in death by her husband Danny Sanford, both parents Aulton Wess and Willie Lou Purnell, Sisters Karen Purnell, Willie D. Purnell, and Aulteenia Ward.

Mrs. Sanford is survived by her sons, Anthony Hopkins (Mindy), Angelo Purnell (Sara), and Wilson Winn (Syeta); five granddaughters and 6 grandsons, and one great-grandson. Vernia was very active in all of her grand and great-grandchildren's lives. She loved nothing more than being "Granny." She is also survived by her sister, Theresa A. Cantrell, and her brother Aulton W. Purnell.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will follow at 10:30, Pastor Daryl Ward officiating. Vernia will be laid to rest with her husband at Dayton National Cemetery.
