Vernetta Jean Green, age 85 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024. She was born September 4, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio daughter of the late Crawford and Annie (Middlebrooks) Rutledge.
Vernetta was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful member as one of Jehovah's Witnesses of 55 years and she was baptized October 4, 1969. She was employed with JC Penny for 18 years. Vernetta enjoyed roller skating, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Vernetta was preceded in death by her siblings, Leon Rutledge, Robert Rutledge, Emerson Rutledge, Calvin Rutledge, Katherine Rutledge, Annie Prior, and Marlene Rutledge.
She is survived by her children, Venetia Rutledge, Theresa (Glenn) Jordan, Yvette (Wendell) Daugherty, Sylvia Green, and Paul Green; grandchildren, Tiffany, Kevin, Terri, Taylor, Brittany, Rhyan, and Wendell Jr; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jaydon, and Shaun; siblings, James Rutledge, William Rutledge, Joseph (Sue) Rutledge; special nieces, Marlene and Vernetta Rutledge; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 1:00pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1530 North James H. McGee Blvd, Dayton, Ohio 45402.
