Vernetta Mae Foster, "Nettie Mae," age 83 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born November 8, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Vernon and Flora (Andrews) Dickerson.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Foster; son, David Ferguson; grandchild, Shatawna Palmer; and brother, Byron Dickerson.
Vernetta is survived by her daughter, Angel - Janetta (Shawn) (Foster) Walker; grandchildren, Adorian-Jaymes Foster, Daybara Ferguson, Ashley Houser, Noah Houser, Chaulita Waters, Deijha Walker, Tabria Walker, Ronnie Rusk, Nicole Forte; 10 great grandchildren; extended Godsons, Perry Matlock and Vincent Gray; Goddaughter, Kathy Bryant-Abrams; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
She worked and retired from WPAFB, DESC, NARFE Chapter 1927. Vernetta was a member of University of Dayton New Horizons Band, where she played violin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 10 am - 11 am at Corinthian Baptist Church, 700 S. James H. McGee Blvd., Dayton, OH. Funeral service will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow in West Memory Gardens.
