Vern W. Woods, Jr., 79, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 in Dayton, Ohio.
Vern was born on October 6, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Helen and Vern Woods, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Vern is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Lois Ann Woods; daughter, Trina Marie Lewis, and siblings, Duane Woods, Sr. and Sharon Owens.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Blackford (Kevin); grandchildren, Robbie (Meghan), Eric (Beka), and Stacy (Casey); and great grandchildren, Victor, Brandon, Ellery, Emerson, Adaline, and Wyatt; niece, Lori (Randy); nephew, Duane Jr. (Joanne); sister-in-law, Laura, and many other extended family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am also at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jeff Cartwright officiating. He will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery (Dayton).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in his memory.
