ZINK, Vera Marie, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Vera was a former member of St. Helen's Parish in Riverside and Ascension Parish in Kettering.
Vera worked as a bookkeeper at Pratt Whitney and later retired from the Peter Kuntz Company. However, her passion was her love for and dedication to her family. She faithfully remembered birthdays and anniversaries and lovingly handmade blankets and crafts as gifts. Vera volunteered alongside her brother and niece at Ascension bingo for many years. Vera shared her patriotism by making special flags for her family and friends. She was very proud of her great-great nephew, JJ Hinders, who is currently serving in the Navy. She loved reading, bingo, watching golf and UD Flyers basketball. Christmas will never be the same without her impossible to open yarn wrapped packages.
Vera was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph LaVern (Theresa) and Gordy (Rose) Zink.
She is survived by her nieces, Nancy (Ralph) Hinders and Joyce (Gary) Nissen; great nieces and nephews, Tim (Sue), Tom (Cheri), and Todd (Amy) Hinders, Gary (Michelle), Chris (Tracey), Shawn, and Matt (Mary) Nissen, Erin (Dave) Brodowski, numerous great-great nieces and nephews, as well as her great-great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial mass to be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
The family expresses a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff from Ohio's Hospice of Dayton who cared for Vera, as well as the staff and new friends, especially Mary Lou Muran, who so warmly welcomed her during her short stay at Oak Creek Terrace. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace.
