Velma C. Sams

Sams, Velma C., age 86, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014. Velma was born July 17, 1928 in Indiana to the late John & Nova Handschigiel. Velma retired from Samuels Products with over 25 years of service and she was an avid card player.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband: Jay Sams.

She is survived by he son and daughter-in-law: Jay (Ronna) Sams; daughter and son-in-law: Patti (Carl) Ballachino; grandchildren: Kelly Skoglund, Kacy Bose, Joseph Ballachino, Angela Thompson & Amie Schommer; great grandchildren: Clayton, Scarlett, Rachel, Ashley, Gage, Abigail, Harper, Hannah, Lucy, J.J., Emma, and Eleanor; and numerous other family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Road, Dayton, Ohio 45449. The family will receive friends AT CHURCH on Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Cincinnati, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley in memory of Velma. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel.
