Veeda F. Whitt, age 85, born August 16, 1929 died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at her home.
Veeda graduated in 1954 as a registered nurse from Florida Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1993 from Kettering Medical Center after 35 years of service. Veeda was an active member of the Kettering Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she loved going to church and served as deaconess. She volunteered for several organizations which included President of Springboro Welcome Wagon Club, Five Rivers Metro Parks at Cox Arboretum, Kettering Hospital Years Ahead Program, Clear Creek Township Life Squad and others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Whitt, of 55 years in 2011.
Survived by her sons, Norman (Alice) Whitt of Biloxi, MS, Gary Whitt of Florence, KY; grandchildren, Amanda (Jacob) Lacon and Thomas (Jillian) Whitt of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Austin, Julia, Aubrey, Josie, Carleigh Kohen and Kolton; brothers, John Johnson, Bryson Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.
Veeda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Veeda enjoyed spending time with her family, church, scrapbooking, silver sneakers exercise class and traveling. In 2010 Veeda wrote a book titled "Grandmother Remembers", a legacy she leaves her family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 1-2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will follow at 2pm, with Pastor Elliot Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville.
