SALYER, Veda Mae. 90, of Miamisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 8, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Arthur G. Salyer; her parents, Robert and Caroline (Stegman); brother, Robin; and her sisters, Evelyn Hahn and Peggy Lee Husband. She is survived by her two sons, Sidney and David; her two daughters, Judith and Jacqueline; her sister, Vivian Baskett; fourteen grand-children, thirteen great grand-children, nieces, nephews and other family members. Veda Mae was a 1936 graduate of Steele High School and attended Otterbein College. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, ordained minister and missionary. She graduated from Dayton Missionary Bible Institute in 1944. She and her husband Art then followed the Lord's call on their lives and would serve as missionaries for 39 years, under United World Mission and through the faithful support of their home church, Christian Tabernacle (nka FairCreek Church), beginning first in Cuba and then to Venezuela. Veda Mae's passion was music. She played piano, accordion and harp. She enjoyed singing solos, participating in and directing choirs and was one of the original members of the "Three Graces". She was a member of the Vivace Music Club and following retirement from missionary work, enjoyed leading and directing civic and senior chorale groups. She, along with Art, served as chaplain volunteers for Heartland of Miamisburg for many years. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008 at FairCreek Church. Services will follow with Rev. Greg Trout officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FairCreek Church for Cuba Missions.
