Van A. Wicks, age 69 of Huber Heights, passed away July 5, 2018. He was born July 3, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Van Wicks and Rosemary Wicks, who survives. In addition to his father, Van was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marlene Slicklen.
In addition to his mother, Van is survived by his wife of 18 years, Tami Wicks; children: Scott (Holly) Wicks, Ryan (Michelle) McManus, Chelsi (Mike Hall) McManus and Tyler (Mariah Gould) McManus; grandchildren: Jacob, Charlotte, Gage, Haileigh and Marli, who is on the way; sister, Kim (Tim) Slater; niece, Candace (Juan); and great-nephews: Nathan, Payton and Kobe. Van is also survived by his beloved bulldog, Rocco.
Van was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after many years of service. After his retirement, Van worked in logistics for area trucking companies. Van was a member of Abundant Life Church of God.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Van's memory to The Hospice of Dayton or to Abundant Life Church of God.
