Valerie Starks, age 92, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 13, 2017. Valerie was born on January 19, 1925 in Rogersville, AL to the late Curtis & Pearl Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Starks.
Valerie is survived by her daughter, Darlean Watkins; grandchildren, Jennifer (Clarence) Stewart, La-Wanda (Damian) Clement, Dwayne (Tonya) Watkins and Roderick (Paula) Watkins; sisters, Rilla Mattison, Arizona Pinkston and Ceretha (Robert) Guy; 26 great-grandchildren, 8 great-greatgrandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 11am-12pm at Miami Shores Baptist Church (4000 Vance Rd, Moraine, OH 45439). The service will follow at 12:00pm. Valerie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Sherman, at the Dayton National Cemetery.
