Valerie J. Polak, 62, of Dayton, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Centerville Health and Rehab. She was born March 21, 1960 in Parma, Ohio to the late William Polak and Colleen Massie Polak.
Val graduated from Centerville High School in 1978 and furthered her education at The Ohio State University. She was an avid Buckeye fan her whole life. Val was strong-willed and fiercely dedicated to her family and friends. She was a constant advocate for others, enjoyed listening to rock & roll, and Val was a huge spiller. More than anything, she adored being an aunt to her two nephews, Chadd and Jesse. We will remember her for her love of life and quick wit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hyde; and her step-mother, Barbara Polak.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her sister, Sheila Shay Bittner; nephews, Chadd (Krystal) Shay and Jesse (Ashley Dabbelt) Shay; best friend for life, Jim Schultz; great nieces and nephews, Jason, Dallas, Kellen, Oliver, Parker, Aurora, and the new baby on the way. She is also survived by many cousins, and her aunt, Laura Dieffenderfer.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow beginning at 4:00pm.
