In loving memory of Travis G. Mitchell
Travis G. Mitchell, a dedicated individual who graced this world with his outgoing personality and strong work ethic, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Kettering, Ohio. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Travis was born on August 27, 1950, in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Mitchell; parents: John Mitchell, Paul Lacy, and Jonnie Weber; brother, Stanley Lacy; and sister, Donna Nell Mitchell.
He graduated from Wayne High School in the Class of 1969. Travis embarked on a career that spanned over 50 years. He held various notable positions at Kroger, General Motors as a Union Steward with IUE-CWA 798, and Meijer in Huber Heights as a meat and produce manager.
Those who knew Travis will remember him as a jokester with a penchant for mischief - if you heard barking in a store, it was likely him spreading laughter wherever he went. His love for bowling, playing softball, watching old westerns, and engaging in outdoor activities showcased his vibrant personality and zest for life.
One of Travis' proudest accomplishments was his unwavering commitment to providing for his family. His legacy lives on through his surviving loved ones: children: Lisa (James) Sayer, Christy Koster, Travis Mitchell, Jacob (Shandora) Mitchell and Daniel (Ashley) Mitchell; grandchildren: DJ, Hannah, Aaliyah, Jaida and Mia; great-grandchildren: Nolan and Laila; brothers and sisters: Dallas (Barb) Mitchell, Jewell (Jim) Snedigar, Paula (Jim) Flanders, David (Debbie) Lacy and Melissa (Mike) Arville; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
A visitation honoring Travis' life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Entombment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
