Melvin "Tracy" Freeman, age 60, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2023. Tracy was born in El Paso, Texas on February 8, 1963 to Spencer Freeman and Cecelia Brown.
Tracy is preceded in death by his mother; and his step-father, Derwood Brown.
Tracy is survived by his former spouse Mary Katheryn of 33 years.
He is survived by sons, Nelson (Noelle) Freeman, Benjamin (Caroline) Freeman, Jesse (Janet) Freeman; daughters, Cecelia Freeman, Jenny-Beth Freeman; eight grandchildren; father, Spencer Tracy (JoEllen) Freeman; siblings, Joseph (Kimberly) Freeman, Rachel (Benjamin) Johansen, Jessica (Brian) Ford, Abigail (Preston) Leigh, Emily (Alan) Karpovich; and nine nieces and nine nephews.
Tracy graduated with a bachelors from NC State University and a masters from Wright State University. He worked faithfully for Delco/Delphi for over 20 years and transitioned to WPAFB as a civilian. He was a Six Sigma Black Belt. In his free time, he enjoyed hiking, camping with family, Boy Scouts of America, including conquering the Philmont Scout Ranch with his boys. He loved dreaming and strategizing about sustainable generosity.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Lifehouse Church (2234 Utica Rd., Lebanon) with funeral services being held at 2:00pm.
