Tony L. Whitaker Sr, age 58, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on July 6, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on October 13, 1961 to the late Melvin and Julia Dixon in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Tony was a loyal father, grandfather, brother and friend. One of his favorite things to say was "Party Like a Rockstar." Those who knew him knew he had a great sense of humor. Tony enjoyed working on cars, art, drawing, music, comedies and being an overall Handyman. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
Tony graduated from Dunbar High School in 1980 and attended Wright State University. He worked for Dayton Public Schools for 12 years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Tony is survived by his loving children Tony (Taylor) Whitaker Jr., Antoine (Asia) Barber, India Whitaker, D'Mari (Chakay) Campbell, and Aisha (Chris) Ingram. A host of grandkids. Brothers, Gregory (Denise) Dixon, Christopher (Tara) Dixon, Sisters, Anna Whitaker, and Anessia (Virgil) Carter. Nephews, Nieces and a host of friends and extended family; and best friend, Hal Bailey.
Visitation for the public will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH where the Homegoing will begin at 10:30 a.m. Officiating by Pastor Tokunbo Adelekan. Due to the corona virus pandemic, we ask that only family members and close family friends attend the Homegoing services. Burial will be held at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
