Tommy Junior Lavender, was born on September 10, 1943, in Aliceville, Alabama. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2020.
He lived in Stamford, Connecticut for a short period of time and moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1970. Tommy was a member of New Testament M.B. Church. He also was a longtime employee of the GH&R Foundry and retired at Non-Ferrous Casting, employed for 35 years.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae Lavender and brothers, Henry Horton and Willie James Lavender. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Laura Lavender; children, Debra Hinton, Katrina (Ricky) Allen, Tommy (Rashella) Lavender and Michelle Lavender; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Lockett and Ethel (Clarence) Cockrell; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 10am-11am, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Raleigh Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Park Cemetery.
