Tommie L. Melson, Jr., age 61 of Dayton, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born January 27, 1952 in Franklin, GA to the late Tommie, Sr. and Ruby Banion (Melson).
He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Melson in February, 1990.
Tommie is survived by his son, Tommie L. Melson, III; daughter, Toni D. Melson; grandchildren, Doneal McDonald and Davi'L Knight; sister, Betty (Owen) Walder; brothers, Thomas E. (Gail) Melson and Gary (Sharon) Melson; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was an avid drag racer and was currently rebuilding his drag race car. Tommie was a member of International Union Operating Engineers Union Local #18 for over 40 years. In his free time after retirement, he enjoyed walking and bowling. Tommie loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, BoBo.
Tommie's wishes were to be cremated and inurned at a later date with his father.
