Thomas D. Burress, age 47 of New Carlisle, went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2013. He was born November 1, 1965 in Xenia to the late William Robert and Betty Louise Burress, Sr. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Burress.
Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Vonda (Sparks) Burress; daughter and son-in-law: Amber and Mark Applegate; grandson, Ireland Dewitt Applegate "Lil Man"; sisters: Betty Jean (Johnny) Perdue and JoAnn Hicks; brother, William Robert Burress, Jr.; mother and father-in-law: Vinas and Doris Sparks; sister-in-law, Candy Pannell; along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends.
Tom grew up in church. He started writing songs, singing and playing music around the age of 8. Later Tom began preaching and was known for his rhyming sermons. Tom was an amazing musician; his songs touched many lives and he has left behind a wonderful legacy. He was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.
