Timothy (Tim) John O'Leary, 71, of Centerville, OH died on June 27, 2017 surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born to Esther and John O'Leary on January 28, 1946, Tim was raised in the Bronx and has remained a lifelong Yankees fan despite residing in Ohio for the last 30 years. Tim was proud of his military service; he enlisted in the Navy and served his country in Vietnam. Once discharged, he spent much of his working career at GenRe in Connecticut and later served as a financial examiner for the State of Ohio's Department of Insurance until retirement in 2006. A devoted father and grandfather, Tim surrounded himself in pictures of his loved ones and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons who were his pride and joy. Tim will undoubtedly be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and his generosity.
Tim is preceded in death by his father John O'Leary and brother Kevin O'Leary. He is survived by his mother, Esther O'Leary of Mahopac, NY; daughter, Shonagh O'Leary-Moore and her husband Terry of Apex, NC; son Ryan O'Leary of Fort Loramie, OH; grandsons Nathan Moore of Apex, NC and Liam O'Leary of Fort Loramie; sister Kathy Clifford and her husband Denis of Mahopac, NY; nephew Kevin Clifford and his wife Lauren Anzovino and daughter Liliana Caldwell of Putnam Valley, NY, niece Laura Clifford, of Putnam Valley, NY and numerous close friends who he considered family.
Tim's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Hospice of Dayton and Hospice of Butler and Warren County who were involved with his care during the last few months. Their compassion and support allowed him to remain independent in the comfort of his own home for as long as possible and ensured his comfort in his final days.
A ceremony with military honors will be held on Monday July 3, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Dayton National Cemetery 4400 W 3rd St.
Dayton, OH 45428. Arrangements are in the care of Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory - Beavercreek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tim's honor to the Cure JM Foundation.
