Timothy Dean Doakes, age 60 of Moraine, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home. He was born August 12, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Edward and Annie (Hawkins) Doakes.
He met the love of his life, Linda Nixon, when they were 16 years old. They married on July 16, 1977 in Dayton and spent the next 40 years enjoying the fruits of their labor. Everyone knew that he loved and adored Linda Doakes whom he showered with flowers and balloons faithfully. Linda truly loved him and he will remain in her heart forever.
Tim was honorably discharged from the US Army and proudly served his country for 14 years.
He is known by his children as "Skeet", "Big Tim" and "Big Guy" and by his grandchildren, "Papa". Tim loved to play the lottery and scratch off tickets at least once a day. He especially enjoyed playing online games with his sister, Marjorie. He was an avid sports fans who rooted for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, Sacramento Kings and the University of Dayton Flyers. He never missed an opportunity to talk politics to anyone who would listen. "Big Tim" was an actively supportive family man who was always available to all his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Doakes, III.
Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda (Nixon); children, Edward (Antia) Doakes IV, Alana Michelle Doakes, Timothy Gene Doakes, Anthony Lemar (Miya) Doakes, Kwanza Lee (Sophia) Stevens, , Darrell Alexander Doakes, JaQuita Antionette (Jeffery Larson) Doakes, , Leslie Carol (Domonic) Whatley, Brandon Louis (Tamika) Doakes, Thomas Joshua (Tiffany) Doakes; 21 grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Quintin) Gaddis, Lisa (Danny) Green, Marjorie (James) Martin, Kathy Doakes and Sarah (Dewey) Dungar-Fitzgerald; brothers, Christopher Doakes and Henderson Doakes; best friends, Terry Matlock and Chrystal Fields-Elebesunu; beloved dogs, J.R. and Lucy; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Southbrook Christian Church, 9095 Washington Church Road, Miamisburg, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. Repast will take place at Southbrook Christian Church immediately following burial.
