Thomas Melvin Weeks Sr. (84) of Beavercreek passed away peacefully in the arms of his granddaughter, Victoria, at his home on May 17, 2021. Tom worked for Wright Patterson AFB as an aeronautical engineer where he worked on the X29 aircraft, the wind tunnels, and other related assignments. In addition, Tom was a professor at The University of Dayton where he taught Aeronautical Engineering and was the editor of AIAA Journal (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). He earned his Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University where he met his wife, Norma Jean (Cyphers) Weeks of Buffalo, NY. He joined the AirForce as an officer. After leaving as a Captain the two brought their family to Beavercreek, Ohio where later Tom earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Dayton. Tom was also a Boy Scout leader for troop 71 in Beavercreek for many years, a skilled craftsman, and he enjoyed all outdoor activities.
A devoted family man, Tom spent most of his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spent his remaining years at home in the care of his granddaughters Victoria and Deborah, who brought their children to his home daily, allowing him to forge a relationship that bridged the generations, share his wisdom, and keep him young at heart. Tom was the type of person who would do anything for anyone to make their lives better; he worked hard to provide for his family and was always willing to give what he could to benefit others, whether they were family or complete strangers. He was a good man and had a wonderful, fulfilled life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Born August 1, 1936 in Auburn, NY, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Weeks; his parents, Erna and Melvin Weeks; his brother, Donald Weeks; and his daughter, Sandy Weeks.
Tom is survived by his five children, Thomas Melvin Weeks, Jr.; Roderick Adler (Sandy); Michelle Weeks; Melinda Gutman (Mike); and Marcey Boone (Aaron); his grandchildren, Eleanor Weeks; Victoria Morrison (Greg); Erick Gutman; Nathan Boone (Deborah); Megan Zeng (Victor); Brandon Adler; Julia Hinckley (Patrick); and Kalen Adler; and his great grandchildren, Abigail, Samuel, Katherine, and Alex Morrison; Gweneth, Theodore, and Bennett Boone; Amelia and Joseph Hinckley; Fred and George Weeks; and James Fuschberger.
