Thomas Trego

June 2, 1940 — February 10, 2014

Just Passing Through.

Thomas R. Trego entered eternal life on Monday, February 10, 2014. His spirit is carried on by his three daughters, his (step) son, 7 grandchildren, one surviving sibling, Ed Trego in Florida and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life.

Anyone who knew Tom, whether from Loogootee, Indiana where he was born on June 2, 1940 to Riverside, Ohio could tell you that one of his favorite phrases was "I'm just passing through." Part of Tom's journey included more than 30 years working the flight line at WPAFB from where he retired to his short stint at American Shoa in Delaware, Ohio.

Tom lit up a room when he walked in and was the life of the party and the center of attention. Tom played by his own rules. Tom considered himself a "ladies man" and the women in his life adored him. His love of practical jokes is well known by many. Tom also loved the Cincinnati Reds, the Bengals, the OSU Buckeyes, Ford cars and Budweiser (not necessarily in that order).
Tom also loved his children and grandchildren whose achievements he would share with his friends or anyone else who would listen. His daughters: Kim (Trego) Papenfuse (husband Gary), Lori (Trego) Allen (husband Craig) and Tommi (Trego) Davis inherited his stature, curly hair and (as he would tell you) his good looks. While growing up Tom's daughters were not very interested in sports (although they loved going with him to Riverfront Stadium to watch the Big Red Machine). Tom was able to share his love of sports with his (step) son, Justin Kintner. Tom loved children and they loved him back especially his seven grandchildren: Kristen Hilgendorf, Tyler Hunter, Ian Hunter, Alex Davis, Monica Allen, Megan Allen and Madison Allen. And ask any one of a number of nieces and nephews about their "Uncle Tom" and they will share a funny story.
Tom (or Tommy as friends in Loogootee referred to him) is now reunited with his mother, Bernice Trego; father, Robert Trego; sister, Evelyn Trego (Hardwick) and his brother, Gary Trego.

Friends can visit with Tom's family at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel, 8200 West National Road, New Carlisle, Ohio, on Saturday, February 15 from 9:30 - 11 AM, with a prayer service at 11 AM. Tom loved a good party with good food and Saturday will be no different. Friends and relatives may stay to enjoy lunch from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel.
