Thomas Harold Thorp, affectionately known as Tom, was born on December 21, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio. He peacefully departed this life on February 21, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Tom's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
A proud graduate of Xenia High School, Class of 1966, Tom embraced life with a spirit that was infectious. For over 37 years, he dedicated himself to his career at Monarch Marking/Avery Dennison, where he was a cherished colleague and friend. His military service in the Vietnam War as an Army Medic only added to his profound sense of duty and compassion for others, ensuring that he lived a life dedicated to serving those around him.
Tom was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, and his lifetime memberships with the Xenia VFW Post 2402 and the DAV highlighted his enduring commitment to his community and comrades. He possessed an extraordinary ability to connect with everyone—a trait that allowed him to forge lasting friendships wherever he went. He loved to tell jokes and always had a welcoming smile that made even strangers feel like family. His positive view of the world meant that he invariably saw the good in everyone he met.
Family was everything to Tom. He adored his time spent with loved ones, especially his grandchildren, Amber, Abigail, Jessica, Ethan, David, Celeste, Alex, Rachel, and Stephanie. They were a constant source of joy in his life, and he cherished every moment spent creating memories with them. Tom and his beloved wife, Lillie, built a life rich in laughter, love, and shared adventures.
Tom had a zest for life that extended beyond his family. He was an avid traveler and loved cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the Reds, Ohio State University, and the University of Dayton. His spirit of adventure inspired those around him to embrace life fully and seek out joy in every experience.
Tom's legacy will continue to be felt through his loving family, which includes his children, John (Cecelia) Thorp, Kenneth (Cindy) Thorp, Thomas Thorp, and Bridget (Chris) Roe.
