Thomas E. Schroeder

SCHROEDER, Thomas Edward
age 77 of Kettering, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born December 1, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William and Mabel Schroeder.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas E. Schroeder, Jr. and Robert Frank Schroeder and brothers, William Schroeder and Lawrence Schroeder.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gereda Faye (Owens) Schroeder; son, Thomas "Stacey" Schroeder; grandchildren, Robert II, Katelynn, Alison; great grandchildren, Jonathan and Brooke and Gereda's sister, Bonnie (Wayne) Mullins.

Tom attended Centerville High School and later received his GED. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and then received professional training in telecommunications from AT&T. In addition to his 30-year employment as a special service technician for AT&T he and his wife, Gereda shared ownership of Dayton area laundromats and rental properties. Tom had served on various committees for the Greenmont Mutual Housing Corporation and enjoyed outdoor activities in his spare time, such as boating, fishing and hunting. He will always be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor and a devoted Pappaw.

Family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. A funeral ceremony will begin at 7:00 pm also at the funeral home on Wednesday and officiated by Tom's nephew, Warren Owens. Military honors will conclude the services for the evening.
