Thomas D. Reid

Thomas "Tige" D. Reid, age 89 of Huber Heights, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2018. Tige was born in Middletown to the late Alta and Lonzo Reid. Thomas enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, where he faithfully, loyally, and honorably served for three years. He took great pride in being stationed in Alaska during his deployment. Thomas married Elizabeth Day in 1979. He worked as a truck driver and was an active member of the Teamsters Union, retiring in 1990, after 38 years of service. In addition to the Union, Tige was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Amvets, and Eagles. Thomas was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Reid; and his sister, Helen Phipps.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Elizabeth Reid; children,Thomas "Mike" (LuAn) Reid, Martin Reid, Carrie (Andrew) Bochenek, Dawn (Clayton) Mitchell (and children), and Melinda Hart (and children); loving canine companion, Baby Girl; grandchildren, Jamie, Melissa (Mikel), Chris, Joey (Martha), Chanon (Glenn), and Harley (Sherry); 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to service (12:30pm-1:30pm). Burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tige's memory to Dayton Honor Flight.
