Thomas Ramey, 81, born January 1, 1929 in Richmond, Virginia, passed away on October 25, 2010 in Tipp City, OH following a lengthy illness. He entered the automotive industry in Dayton, OH in manufacturing, then as a shop owner for over 55 years in auto repair service and sales. Tom enjoyed family gatherings, auto restoration and racing, and building custom cars and homes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Della and Freelin Ramey; sisters: Eula and Stella; and brother, Ralph. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherra Imogene; sisters: Nellie, Dean, Margaret and Velva; brothers: Earl (Gay), Robert (Osie), Gary and Willie; daughters: Carol, Sandy and Deborah; son, Tom (Kathy); grandchildren: Lee, Steven, Tommy, Doug (Chrissi), Jason, Casey and Michael; eleven great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Tom will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Miami County, 550 Summit Avenue, # 101, Troy, OH 45373.
