Thomas P. McGrath
Age 86, of West Carrollton, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at St. Leonard Center.
Tom was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur McGrath; his parents, Thomas J. & Beatrice McGrath; and by one grandson, Jake McGrath.
Tom is survived by his wife of the past 62 years, Dorothy (Schiele) McGrath; four children, Bridget (Douglas) Kline, Patrick (Deb) McGrath, John (Deanna) McGrath & Mary (Tom) Larson; six grandchildren, Kathy (Gregg), Tom (Joni), Kristen (Tim), Patricia (Chris), Christopher (Sarah) & Sean; nine great grandchildren, Gwynndalen, Dominic, Merlynn, Emily, Nathan, Clare, Brendan, Delaney & Ainsley; nephew, Matt (Gloria) Beneduce-McGrath; and by his extended family & many good friends.
During WW II Tom served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific. He retired in 1985 from DESC as a Contract Negotiator and for much of his life he was a small business owner. He was a member of Emmanuel Catholic Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. Tom was an avid walker and fan of Notre Dame Football & Purdue basketball.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday (3/21) at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg.
If friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of Tom to Emmaus, The Hospice of Dayton or to a charity of the donor's choice.
