Thomas J. Lewkowski

October 23, 1937 — October 2, 2021

Lewkowski, Thomas Julius 10/23/1937 - 10/2/2021 Beavercreek, Ohio Thomas Julius Lewkowski, age 83, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2021. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Mary Ellen, and their children and families: William (Paula) Lewkowski, Scott (Patty) Lewkowski, Gregory (Carol) Lewkowski, Christine (Alan) Toorenaar, and Alisa (Steven) Watson; Grandchildren Nicholas, Abigail, and Megan Lewkowski, Jessica (Kyle) Kral, Sarah Lewkowski (fiance Ryan Vogelaar), Alexis Lewkowski, Emily (Jesse) Savage, Laura (Aaron Wilson) Lewkowski, Jason (Michaela) Toorenaar, Kimberly and Joshua Toorenaar, and Xavier Watson; Great-grandchildren Caden, Madeline, and Evelyn Kral, and Jack Savage. He also leaves behind a brother, Robert Lewkowski, sister Kathleen (Lewkowski) Smant and family, and sister-in-law Janina (David – decd.) Lewkowski and family. Also remaining are his wife's siblings, their spouses and families, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Casimer and Mary Lewkowski, his brother David, members of his in-law Joseph and Virginia Kahnoski family, and several friends. Tom – as he was known – devoted his life to loving and providing for his bride Mary Ellen – Mickey – and their family. Mickey was the love of his life, and they loved each other well until the Lord took him home. Tom was incredibly proud of and deeply loved his children and grandchildren. He and Mickey made treasured memories with them at the family cottage, attending Notre Dame football games, and in the Bahamas. He was known for being a supportive and encouraging dad and grandpa. Tom served honorably in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. St. Paul. He also had an illustrious career and enjoyed forty-nine years working for the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA)/Tenneco Packaging. He started in the factory at PCA and worked his way to successfully selling and brokering for them, winning a plethora of sales awards. The awards allowed him and Mickey to see the world, something they continued to do independently for many years. Watching Notre Dame football, golfing, cooking, and nurturing plants were among his favorite past-times. After retirement, Tom and Mickey lived for fifteen years in The Villages, FL where together they golfed, entertained, cooked, and hosted family and friends. There was not a friend he could not make, and most of his relationships spanned decades. He was a lifelong Catholic, a former member of the St. Stanislaus Aid Society in Grand Rapids, MI and a former member of the Whiff and Woofers of Comstock Park, MI. Tom was known for his generosity to the organizations with which he was involved. Although he is home with the Lord, he will be greatly missed. The family thanks Air Ambulance and ProMedica Hospice for expertly helping resettle Tom in Ohio to be near family where he was able to live his final days with Mickey by his side. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Boys Town (www.boystown.org). A celebration of Tom's life will take place in the spring of 2022, with more information to follow. A Graveside Service will be held on May 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Dayton National Cemetery.
