DeJournett, Thomas J., age 91 of Beavercreek, passed away December 21, 2016. He was born in Puxico, MO to the late Clarence and Cora DeJournett. After graduating high school, Thomas went on to proudly and honorably serve in the United States Navy during WWII earning the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Thomas met the love of his life, Joan A. Bradley, and they married on Christmas Eve of 1943. After his service with the Navy, Thomas became a civil service employee for the Department of Defense for 38 years. After his retirement, Joan and Thomas enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Thomas enjoyed woodworking, boating, and fishing in his free time. He was a member of The Scottish Rite, Antioch Shriner's Temple Guard, Masons, and Alpha Lodge No. 0729. He was a loving and devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Joan A DeJournett; siblings, Glenda DeJournett, Clyde Wilson, Byrle Miller, Leon DeJournett, and Lance DeJournett.
Thomas is survived by children, Thomas C. (Connie K.) DeJournett, Linda (Elias) Kallis, Michael (Sue) DeJournett, and Karen (Paul) Mahan; sister, Wilda Nadeau; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel at 4pm. The family will greet friends and loved ones for one hour prior (3pm-4pm) to the service.
