Theodore James Kauflin

Theodore James Kauflin, 82, of Dayton, passed away at his residence, surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He was born on October 26, 1939 in Dayton, OH to Joseph and Eileen (nee: Doyle) Kauflin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eileen Kauflin and his brother, Terry Kauflin.

Theodore is survived by his wife, Susan Kauflin; 4 children, Kris (Eric) Gibson, Ted Kauflin, Jenny (Sean) Wallace and Rachel (Mike) Chambers; 6 grandchildren, Aaron, Pyper, Lexi, Konnor, Zoey and Chloe; 1 great-grandchild, Neville; 2 siblings; Tom (Fran) Kauflin, Tim (Heidi) Kauflin. Theodore is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Chaminade in 1957. He retired from Inland Manufacturing a division of General Motors in 1992. He also was a life member of the PGA. He was an avid participant in the local Southern Ohio PGA section, where he won quite a few tournaments. While living in Toledo, Ohio he was a member of the Northern Ohio PGA, again winning tournaments and setting course records. In 1961, he joined the Army Reserve where he spent 6 months active duty then 6 years as a Reservist. Theodore enjoyed spending time with family. He did not miss too many of his grandchildren's extracuricular sporting activities (this includes a spelling bee). Theodore is well loved and when thought of can bring a smile to your face. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, 10 am to 11 am with a celebration of life immediately following, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - Kettering Chapel.

Theodore will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice.
