Theo V. Bennett

April 29, 1930 — October 6, 2021

Theo V. Bennett, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Bethany Village. He was born April 29, 1930 in Rockford, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Blanche Bennett.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marlene Bennett who passed away on January 30th, 2020.

Theo is survived by his brother, Max Bennett of Ohio City, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sharon Cramer (Marlene's sister) of Manning, South Carolina; son David (& wife Paula) Bennett; grandsons, Matthew & Michael Bennett; and great granchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Savannah; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends.

Theo served his country in the United States Marine Corps as Radio Operator after basic training at Parris Island, SC. After his Marine Corp services, he served in the Ohio State Patrol in Findlay, Ohio, and C.I.A before starting his career with Ohio Bell and AT&T in Dayton. After leaving AT&T, he worked as a traffic signal technician for the City of Kettering where he retired.

Theo attended the University of Dayton later in his career and graduated in 1984. His extracurricular activities included writing articles for the newspapers and magazines and publishing two books, 'Yemassee Station' and 'Vieques Island' about his life experiences in the Marine Corp.

Theo and Marlene were active members of Fairhaven Church in Centerville since it was founded, until later in life when they were no longer able to attend services.

He will be missed by all that new him, as he was full of funny stories, and liked to stir up the conversation whenever he had the opportunity with friends and family.

No services will be held at this time. Theo and Marlene will be buried together in Beaufort National V.A. Cemetery at a future date.
