Thelma M. Pierce, age 90 of Beavercreek, OH passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Soin Medical Center. She was born June 28, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edward and Ida Mae (Bowman) Holland. Thelma married Ernest Pierce on June 16, 1945 in Batavia, OH.
Thelma graduated from Owensville High School in Owensville, OH. She was a Rosie Riveter during World War II, serving proudly in support of her country. Thelma began her retail career working for Rikes Department stores and retired after 27 years from Macy's. She was very involved in the community as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a band parent, school sports and many other activities her children participated in. Thelma supported area organizations and was proud to say she was a Beavercreek resident for 65 years. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Jane E. (Pierce) Tibbetts; a son, Michael M. Pierce; an "adopted daughter" Mary Weaver; three grandchildren, Christie Tibbetts, Amanda and Jason Pierce; three great grandchildren, Eli Tibbetts, Halona and Pierce Karnes; a brother, Charles Holland and nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Ernest; a son, Jimmie D. Pierce; a sister, Erma "Tody" Kresser; two brothers, Odis and Virgil "Bill" Holland.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the ICU and Med-Surg Units at Soin Medical Center for showing loving care, compassion, dignity and respect.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A Funeral Service will be follow the visitation at the funeral home at 12:00 pm. with Pastor Santo Landerer II officiating. Burial to follow the service at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Beavercreek Fire Department, Boys Town or your local Food Bank.
