Thelma Leotta Phipps

Phipps, Thelma Leotta (Rice), age 88, of Miamisburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Thelma is survived by her daughters: Susan (Alan) Krista & Christine (Jennie Happe) Phipps; grandson: Sean (Stacey) Oberschlake; siblings: Doris (John) Boggs, Mary Ann Bowry, Lloyd (Dorie) Deam; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Reverend Kyle S. Phipps; parents: George & Viola (Pickens) Rice; and five brothers and sisters. Thelma was the long time owner and operator of TK Cake Shops in Dayton from 1970-1990. She was very active at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, where her husband was the former pastor, and regularly attended the Senior Citizens Club in Merlin Heights. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Crossroads Hospice or Hospice of Dayton in memory of Thelma. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Sycamore Glen Health Center, Crossroads Hospice and Hospice of Dayton, especially Dr. Susan Berner, for the love and care of Thelma. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
