Thelma L. Smith, age 82, of Moraine departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Thelma was born May 16, 1926 in Armithwaite TN. to the late Joseph and Audie Volies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years William; daughter Connie; son Randall; brothers Milford, Wilson and Woodson; sisters Flora and Georgia. Thelma is survived by her daughter Carla Gibbons & husband Scott of West Carrollton; son Mark & wife Debbie of Germantown; grandchildren Ryan, Rodney, Heather, Michelle (Butch), Missy, Krista, Lydia, and Jared; great-grandchildren Alexis, Hunter, Austin and Isaiah; sisters Zelia (Cleamon) Goad and Ruby Jo (Bob) Goad; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Thelma was a charter member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Friday, September 26, 2008 at 11:00am Newcomer Funeral Home (Kettering Chapel), 3940 Kettering Blvd. Rev. Troy Lowe & Pastor Doug Surber will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
