Thelma L. Foley
Age 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Alfonso, a daughter, Joanne Jackson (Bill), brothers, Jay Williamson of San Francisco and Erna Williamson (Edith) of Nampa, Idaho.
She is survived by a brother, Melvin Williamson (Shirley) of Boise, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Angie Foley, Phyllis Foley; her children, Anthony Foley M.D. (Janis), James Foley (Beverly) and Stephen Foley (Cathy); grandchildren, Ashar (Alan), Walker, Todd (Amy), Tanya (Rajan Lakhia MD), Jason (Shelley), Chris Jackson MD, Melissa (Jason), Angela, Anthony, Nicholas (Katie), and Carrie; great grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Evan, Liam, Braeden, Lauren, Kelsey, Tristan, Luke, Reagan, Hunter and Nicholas; dear friends, Vince & Evelyn Vidoni, Terri Vidoni and Jan Bollinger.
Thelma was born in Taylor County, Iowa, April 18, 1918. She moved to DeGraff, MN graduating from high school first in her class. She moved with her family to Nampa, ID before moving to Boise, ID to work at Metropolitan Life during WWII. She met the love of her life, Alfonso at a Business Girls' dance on Feb. 23, 1943 in Boise. They were married on January 9, 1945 and moved to Scranton, PA where the first two children, Andy and Jim were born. She then moved to Dayton in 1950 where Joanne and Steve were born and they spent many blissful years.
Thelma volunteered many thousands of hours at St. Anthony grade school cafeteria, St. Vincent's hotel and the Rose E. Miller Center. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She will be missed greatly by all.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at The Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Drive, Kettering. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged in memory of Thelma to The Hospice of Dayton.
