Thelma A. Marshall

Marshall, Thelma Alice (Higgins), age 70, passed from this life and into the loving arms of her savior at 5:55 am on March 22, 2013.

She was born on the farm of her grandparents: William J. & Clara (Swisher) Clark on April 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Fred & Nancie Virginia (Clark) Higgins. Her early years were filled with enjoyment and work of the now outdated "family farm" life. She wasn't to grad school in Cable, and later at North Lewisburg and Woodstock during the formation of Triad High School which she graduated from in 1960. She worked at Stockdales Grocery Store in Urbana until shortly after being married to become a full time Homemaker. On September 18, 1965, she married Donald Lionel Marshall and enjoyed a life of love and happiness even up until the morning when he told her his love and goodbyes. As was her style, she waited until her family left the room to pass, trying to save her family that remembrance.

Along with Donald, she is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Fred Higgins (Tonya) Marshall and grandchildren: Shelby (Andrew) Purk & Brooke Gray.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at El Shaddai Church of God, 2815 Clark Road, Urbana with Pastor Calvin Rowland officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kingscreek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Thelma. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home – Kettering Chapel.
