Terry Lee Tirey, age 70 of Medway, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. He was born January 24, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles and Ruth Tirey.
Terry served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was also involved in the Tet Offensive Campaign. He later received a purple heart while protecting others. His country meant everything to him and it was the most important thing in his life to serve his county. He and Deborah enjoyed 15 years traveling across the country in a motor home with Terry's motto painted on the back: "Seeing this great country I served to protect".
Terry retired from Cargill after 26 years. He was a member of the Huber Heights First Baptist Church. He was a life member of the Military Order of Purple Heart and a member of the Springfield VFW Post #8673 as well as a long-time member of the Street Rod Internationals.
Terry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family and grandchildren met everything to him. He was a trusted hero and friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Terry will be missed by his loving wife, Deborah; his precious daughter, Wendy (Troy) Tirey-Harphant; three wonderful sons, Kevin Gamble, Craig Tirey, Brian (Alysia) Gamble; grandchildren, Dillon Gardner, Haley Harphant, Cameron Gamble, Brooke Gamble, Marley Myers, Elijah Lee Gamble and Maddox Gamble and many friends including his best friend, Tim Young.
Family will receive friends Monday, October 16, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, Pastor Robert Hooker, officiating. Burial to follow at 1 p.m. at the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Terry's memory to the Hospice of Miami Valley.
