Ted Simmons Jr.

Ted Eugene Simmons, Jr., age 79, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on November 19, 1944, in the same city, he lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his country, and his faith. A proud veteran, Ted served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967, including a tour in Vietnam, embodying the Corps' values of honor and commitment. After his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career in the banking and computer industries, demonstrating a keen intellect and a knack for innovation, especially in Treasury Management, until his retirement. Ted's life was grounded in his love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Jones) Simmons; daughter, Lori (Simmons) Griffiths; son, Jason Simmons; granddaughters, Faith Simmons, Morgan Griffiths, Maiah Griffiths; grandson, Nico Simmons; and great-grandson, Silas Sabin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted E. Simmons, Sr. and Frances (Grant) Simmons; his brother, Dale Simmons; sister, Karen Simmons; and niece, Leah Simmons.
An avid sports fan, Ted relished following various collegiate and professional sports. His other passions included reading and music, which brought him great joy and relaxation. Above all, spending time with his family was his favorite pursuit, providing him with endless happiness and fulfillment. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ted's life will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at Newcomer South Chapel in Kettering, Ohio. Visitation for family and guests will begin at 11:00 AM, and then a Memorial Service starting at 12:00 PM. The burial ceremony will take place following the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, Ohio, where Ted will be honored with a military honor ceremony, recognizing his service and dedication as a U.S. Marine. Ted E. Simmons, Jr. will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and country. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and loved him.
