HOLMES, SYLVIA "SIBBIE" GRACE (MCCONNELL)

77 of West Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Heartland of Miamisburg. Sylvia was born April 11, 1927, the daughter of Elmer Grant and Mary Elizabeth Eckelberger McConnell. She was a graduate of Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle, PA and worked as an RN at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton and Warren, Ohio, Salem and Richmond, Indiana and New Castle, PA. Sylvia enjoyed participation in amateur theater. She helped many friends with an open heart. Sylvia was a long-time friend of Lois W. She is survived by her sons, Jack Robert Holmes of Muskego, WI and Thomas Gerald Holmes of Dayton; sisters, Dorothy E. Crocker, Mary L. McConnell and Flora "Po" (Steven) Golias; and brother, Ernest G. (Geraldine) McConnell. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Harry Holmes; infant daughter, Joyce Ann Holmes; sisters, Edith Blanche McConnell, Edna Ruth McConnell, Alice Elizabeth Wimer and Sarah Jane McConnell. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment at the convenience of the family in Dayton National Cemetery.
