Susan L. Engelbrecht

Susan Lynn Engelbrecht, 68 years old from Miami Township, Ohio has lost her lengthy battle with cancer. Susan passed away at home, surrounded by her family on Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born in Muncie, Indiana to Charles and Gloria (McGregor)Dillie on September 15, 1947. She graduated from Harrison Township High School in 1966.

Susan was an avid boater for her entire life. She met her loving husband, Ron, at Hamilton Lake in Indiana, where both families owned summer homes and enjoyed boating, swimming, and going to the soda fountain together. They often traveled back and forth between Muncie and Dayton, Ohio until they united in marriage on a cold day, January 27, 1968 at St. Mary's Church in Muncie. Sue and Ron decided to make Dayton their home after enjoying a honeymoon in Florida.

Sue and Ron volunteered many hours for the Miamisburg Guard Program, of which both of their daughters were proud members. More recently, Sue and Ron enjoyed spending their summers together at Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. They have made many friends there who share their love of the lake and boating. Sue really delighted in sharing this love of the lake with her daughters and 9 grandchildren. She was blessed to be able to spend one more weekend at the lake through the end of her battle with cancer.

Sue was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She fought hard, and was determined to beat this evil disease. With her family by her side, she was able to spend her final days happy in her own home.

Sue is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Engelbrecht; her mother, Gloria Dillie; her sister, Sandi and John Simpson; her daughters and their spouses: Kimberly and Kevin Bollinger, and Stacie and Robert Collier; 9 grandchildren; and her niece, Rhiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Dillie.
