EMRICK, Susan Day (Wallen) age77, of Vandalia passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 26 after a courageous and admirable fight with breast cancer.
Susan was born in Water Gap, KY to Ollie Wallen and Mattie McGuire Wallen on Sept. 26, 1934. She was married to (1st) Billy Steve Day of Prestonsburg, KY and (2nd) Jack V. Emrick of Dayton. She worked as Activity Director at the former Franklin Nursing Center for 16 years. She was heavily involved in the Dayton Warriors Basketball program with her son Ken Day.
Susan was the biggest fan and supporter of all her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strong "never ever give up" attitude, love of family, great country cooking and the quilts she made for us to be warmed and comforted with.
Susan is preceded in death by parents, Ollie and Mattie McGuire Wallen, and her loving husband, Jack V. Emrick.
Susan is survived by one daughter, Debbie DiSalvo and sons, Paul Steven Day, Kenneth Day (Carla), and devoted stepsons, Ken and Jack Emrick. Grandchildren, Denise Dull (Craig), Caylin Nyberg (Edwin), Christopher Day (Heather), Christina DiSalvo, Corey Emrick and Cole Emrick. Great Grandchildren Jordan Dull, Dalton Day, Aubrey Nyberg, Landon Nyberg, Liam Emrick, Landon Emrick and Laney Day. Loving sister Mary Ruth Campbell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
