Steven Darnell Blackshear, age 54, of Dayton, went home to be with his Lord on January 29, 2023. He was born on October 26, 1968 to Leo Blackshear and Linda Bankston.
He loved his family and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a very loving and caring son, father, grandfather, boyfriend, brother, uncle and nephew. He was the light in the room and the life of the party. He was always dancing and singing and doing what he could to bring happiness and joy to others. He will be greatly missed by those who love him.
Steven was preceded in death by his son, DeAaron Jones; step-father, Walter Bankston; his grandparents: Allean & Milton Blackshear and Elizabeth and Louis Butler; aunt Debbie Jordan, aunt Ethel Rainey, uncle Charles Holt, uncle Charlie Butler, uncle Larry Brown, uncle Solomon Blackshear, uncle Edward Blackshear and his cousin Stephen "Lil' Steve".
He will be remembered by his mother, Linda Bankston; his father, Leo Blackshear & Brenda Blackshear; brothers: Tony (Tora) Blackshear, Eric Blackshear, Greg Blackshear, Deon (Tonya) Booze, and Earnestine Booze; his sister, Nicole Blackshear; mother-in-law, Helen Moore; brother-in-law, Toby Moore; special friends: A.J. Wright, Sean Chambers, Clara Brown, and Shannon Conner-Blackshear; his girlfriend, Heather McCabe; his children: Shante Williams, Whitney Blackshear, Mynequa Warren, Chanel Caver, Theresa Powell, Steven Blackshear, Steven Blackshear Jr., Ebony Love, and Christopher Everett; special family members: Dominique Blackshear, Asia Blackshear, Danyell Moore Jr., Tony Anderson, Tony "Cookie" Blackshear, Stephen 'Boomp" Blackshear, Debbie "Pie" Rainey, Ivanette Rainey, Angela Rainey, LaQuita "Chicaboo" Harris, Larry "Poncho" Heard, Charles "June" (Penny) Holt, Alicia (Paul) Curry, Terri Sampson, Regina Woods, Kendra Holt, Jason & Marcus Holt, India Holt, Clifford Holt, Greg & April Irvin, Earnest "Bud" Bryson; aunts & uncles: aunt Carol Holt, aunt Lorna (Clifford) Holt, uncle Louis (Artie) Butler, aunt Carmen (Greg) Irvin, aunt Francis Walker, uncle John Butler, uncle Jimmy Butler, David (Loretta) Bankston, and Doretha Stone; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00pm.
