Steven Lee Alexander, age 72, of Centerville, OH passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019. Steve was born on December 16, 1946 in Dayton, OH. He was the son of Billy and Dorothy (Custer) Alexander. Steve married Renda Dorton on March 16, 1968 in the Far Hills Baptist Church and together they began their lives and growing a family in Centerville.
For over 30 years, Steve was a sales representative in industrial manufacturing. He eventually retired in 2007 as Vice President of Sales for the Ross-Willoughby Company. After his retirement, Steve became a substitute teacher in the Centerville, Kettering and Dayton Christian Schools. He enjoyed being around his students and teaching his favorite subjects of math and science.
Steve was a devoted member of the Fairhaven Church where he served as an elder. He also was active in his community serving on the Dayton Area Board of Realtors and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. Steve's favorite past-time and what brought him the most joy in life, was spending time with his eight grandchildren. He never missed his grandchildren's' sporting or school events. He was a coach, former president of Centerville Boosters Club and the Centerville Quarterback Club.
Steve leaves behind a loving legacy consisting of his wife, Renda, of 52 years; son, Scot (Elizabeth) Alexander of Springboro, OH; daughter, Lisa Marie (Elton) Griffith of Dayton, OH; 8 grandchildren, Charlotte (Mike) Hutter, Christian (Logan) Alexander, Joshua (Danielle) Alexander, Noah Alexander, Luke Alexander, Sofiyah Griffith, Liv Griffith and Grace Alexander; 4 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Piper and Sam Hutter, and Emery Alexander; and many extended family and close friends.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Alexander.
The family welcomes everyone to celebrate the amazing life of Steve Alexander with a visitation at Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whip Road, Centerville, Ohio 45459, on Monday, September 16th, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. A memorial ceremony will immediately follow the visitation at 5:00 pm. A private family burial will be conducted at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
