Stephen Ray Sparkman, Sr.,age 60 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Grandview Hospital. He was born January 11, 1960 in Orange, Texas to Clyde Sparkman and Earline Blansett.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Sparkman.
Steve is survived by his children, Danielle (Jared Jones) Sparkman and Stephen Ray Sparkman, Jr.; grandsons, Devan and Jaden; mother of his children, Deborah Pearson, her son, Dylan; and siblings, Carolyn Rulla, Donald (Wanda) Sparkman and James (Yvonne) Sparkman; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. Steve's family would like to give a special thank you to Donnie and Wanda for taking especially wonderful care of Steve.
Steve was a roofer in the Dayton area for over 40 years. Steve was well known in the Old North Dayton neighborhood, where he could be found on any given day with a beer in his hand. He loved making new friends and will be missed by those who knew him. Steve was "one of a kind guy", who was definitely unforgettable. He loved to tell stories, sometimes more than once. He like being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and mostly being with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered by his many nicknames, "Indian", "Budweiser Steve", "One Eyed Steve" and a few unmentionable names.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424, where a funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his children to help with the funeral costs.
