HAMM, Stephen Duane "Butch" "Hambone", age 63 went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2012.
Steve was a fighter and his last fight was with cancer.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Reynolds (Frederick) Hamm; father, Berta Lee Hamm; sisters, Deborah Donaldson and Dianna Lester.
He is survived by his wife, Carol and her nephew, Ben Steele; son, Jon Hamm of FL; granddaughter, Angel Lynn Hamm; daughter, Wendy Hensley of FL; grandson, Joshua Earl Stemple; granddaughters, Candace Marie Hensley and Brandy Lynn Hensley; sister, Roberta (Melvin) Duwel of Clayton; a cousin who was like a brother to him, Gary Plank of KY; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He graduated from Troy High School in 1966 and had previously worked at Hobart Manufacturing, Tube Products, and Ohio Press Steel. He retired from Federal Signal (formerly Dayton Progress) after 22 years of service as a machinist.
He played on the Dayton Progress Softball Team and the Bowling League; enjoyed drag racing Ford Falcons at Tri-State and at Kil-Kare in the early 1980's; was an avid Nascar and Dale Earnhardt enthusiast; a Pittsburgh Steelers fan; and a follower of the Just-in-Time band.
He loved the American eagle, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge #321 in Beavercreek.
Most importantly, Steve had found the Lord on April 20th of this year.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., with Pastor, Tim Hamilton officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Troy. The family will receive friends Friday, June 8, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton.
